“At Zero” is one of the coolest psychedelic 60s songs of our day. Of psychedelic bands, The Electric Marmalade has had several L.A. hits under the names The Wail and The Electric Marmalade. This song is a true classic as only a true psychedelic band could record. Listen to the guitar feedback for a solo. It rocks.
The Wail originally had a hit with this song under the direction of producer Earle Mankey who recorded some of the tracks for this version of “At Zero,” (including the coolest psychedelic 60s solo you’ve ever heard. Earle Mankey did a great job.
This new version was recorded in Los Angeles as The Electric Marmalade is an L.A. band. This song received good airplay on “Rodney on the ROQ” in 1985.
KROQ 106.7. Rodney Bingenhiemer always loved The Wail and The Electric Marmalade. And played “At Zero” a lot. One of their real psychedelic songs. You’ll find a link below:
Here are the words:
At Zero
I rise in flames during the day
And then at night I melt away
I fire silver chords that sink into the floor, my hands entwined
As the clock sticks zero
The sparks of night make instant day
Blow by my brain like sheets of marmalade and capture every
Cloud that crashes down upon the earth
As the clock strikes zero
Strange ideas at zero
Strange footsteps
The sun ifs fogged, it starts to rain
I look for reasons for the sudden gray.
A Ferris wheel rolls though the streets in range
It’s clear that as it turns, the seasons change.
